Frequently asked questions

How does LabelCop work?

You take a photo of a product's ingredients and nutrition panel. LabelCop reads the label, identifies the ingredients and key nutrients, and gives the product a health score out of 100 along with a plain-English breakdown of any concerns.

Why did a product get a score I didn't expect?

LabelCop scores by what's harmful by nature — additives, trans fat, added sugar and salt — rather than by calories. A simple whole food can score "Average" while a heavily processed product scores lower, even if their calories are similar. Every score shows the reasons behind it, so you can see exactly what drove it. If you think a score is wrong, email us with a photo of the label and we'll take a look.

Is LabelCop medical or dietary advice?

No. LabelCop is for general information to help you understand labels. It is not a substitute for professional medical or nutritional advice, and you should always check the actual packaging — especially for allergens. See our Terms of Service for details.

What happens to my photos and data?

Your label photos are used to analyse the product and generate your result. We don't sell your data and brands can't influence your scores. For the full picture, read our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data?

Email us at [YOUR-SUPPORT-EMAIL] and we'll handle your request. See the "Your rights" section of our Privacy Policy.

Which products can I scan?

Any packaged product with a readable ingredients and nutrition label. Because LabelCop reads the printed label itself, it works even on regional or local products that barcode-scanner apps can't find.
